YAS Spotlight on Katie Hagen
YAS 25TH ANNIVERSARY STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Katie Hagen was a YAS recipient from 2002-2011. Today Katie shares:
"Looking back, the Sunriver Music Festival's Young Artists Scholarship program helped me plot my own career path in music, and I remain very grateful for it. The financial support I received from the YAS program helped fund my undergraduate degrees in Viola Performance and Physics at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University, and graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music. But it was also meaningful to be a part of the Sunriver Music Festival - through which I received additional performance opportunities and met other musicians at YAS events, some of whom I'm still in touch with today.
I now live near San Francisco, where I've performed as a professional violist for the past several years. My husband Michael is a harpsichordist, and my gigs are often early-music-centered - we're pictured here performing together at our wedding celebration concert. During the workday, I'm part of the Data Science team at Stripe, an online payments company, and I'm glad for the complementary challenges that provides as well."
Would you like to partner with the Festival in nurturing the next generation of musicians? Donations of any amount are gratefully accepted. You can specify in the shopping cart on the following pages that you'd like your donation to go specifically toward the Young Artists Scholarships.
