Join the Sunriver Music Festival for an abundance of concerts over two lively weeks in August! The 41st season features world-class musicians from all around the nation while also continually creating and nurturing music education programs for Central Oregon’s youth year-round.
It’s a festival full of classical concerts, pops concerts, masterclasses, receptions, and open rehearsals. Many of the visiting musicians from prestigious orchestras are handpicked for the Sunriver Music Festival Orchestra by Artistic Director George Hanson. SWINGS FORE STRINGS GOLF TOURNAMENT – Sunday, June 3rd 1:00 p.m.
Woodlands Golf Course in Sunriver
The 10th annual Precision Body & Paint Swings for Strings golf tournament is a fun day on the golf course supporting the Festival’s 41st Season and the Young Artists Scholarship program.
YOUNG ARTISTS SCHOLARSHIP CONCERT – Sunday, June 10th 7:00 p.m.
Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Sunriver
Over the 22 year history, the Young Artists Scholarship program has awarded nearly $475,000 in scholarships to 142 Central Oregon classical music students. This annual concert is a showcase of the exceptional talent of these young musicians.
ANNUAL FESTIVAL FAIRE DINNER & AUCTION - Sunday, July 15th 4:30 p.m.
Sunriver Resort Great Hall
The elegant Festival Faire dinner and auction in the Great Hall at Sunriver Resort includes performances by the talented Young Artists Scholarship winners. This grand fundraiser directly supports the scholarship program and the summer festival.
Classical Concert I (August 10, Tower Theatre, 7:30 p.m.) includes a new work called “Toward the Splendid City” – a beautiful portrait of New York City by the modern composer Richard Danielpour, Gershwin’s timeless “Rhapsody in Blue” featuring piano soloist, and two epic Bernstein pieces: the complete ballet “Fancy Free” plus his “Prelude, Fugue and Riffs” with a lively jazz ensemble. Classical Concert II (August 12, Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 7:30 p.m.) showcases classical favorites with a Beethoven overture, Mozart clarinet concerto, and Schumann symphony. Featuring Benjamin Lulich, clarinet. Click here for more info on the Classical Concerts.
Classical Concert III (August 15, Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 7:30 p.m.) features a dulcimer concerto and Mendelssohn’s “Scottish Symphony” plus classic sounds of American landscape and grandeur with “Ashokan Farewell” and Copland’s complete “Appalachian Spring Suite”. Pops Concert (August 17, Bend Nazarene Church, 7:30 p.m.) is a Bernstein Celebration with vocal soloists and the full orchestra sharing some of Lenny’s beloved stage songs and all the symphonic dances from West Side Story. Click here for more info on the Pops Concert.
Solo Piano Concert (August 19, Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 4:00 p.m.) Featuring 2017 Van Cliburn Winner Kenny Broberg, piano.
“Discover the Symphony” Concert (August 20, Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 4:00 p.m.) This educational and entertaining concert presents orchestral music in a fun and informal setting. Bring the whole family and enjoy a one-hour concert in the beautiful Great Hall. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for ages 18 and under.
Classical Concert IV (August 22, Sunriver Resort Great Hall, 7:30 p.m.) is a beautiful evening of keyboard music with a piano concerto and Beethoven symphony to close out this celebratory season!
